Welcome to Witte's Word. Please feel free to contact me anytime to discuss our program and offerings.

Witte's Update:

We are in the process of making some changes to our hours of operation and to the structure of our program. In regards to the change in hours we are noticing that our students needs have changed in terms of when they can come to school. There was a tradition of our older students coming early afternoon and into the evening. What we have found is that our demographics have changed and we are now trying to accommodate those changes with a shift in hours. So far so good!

One of the structures to our day that we are trying to incorporate is the use of a  Maker Space  spot in our school. A makerspace is a place where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials. We are in the early stages, but are extremely excited with the potential we see motivating students to be engaged in their learning. We are always looking for new ideas. Of course resources are always tough to come by but we are starting to gather different pieces to get us started.

I am super excited about where we can go with our Maker Space and watching students get engaged about their learning.
Next month I hope to able to tell about huge successes in the "Maker room".

Please call if you have any questions regarding PASS/ Woodwinds or have any comments.

Welcome to Witte's Word

What an exciting first month of school. My new position as the principal at PASS Woodwinds has been very interesting. I have been totally impressed with the commitment of the staff to help students be successful. The students in turn  have responded by engaging in their work and being respectful to the learning environment.

One of the things I really enjoy here at PASS is spending time with the students during lunch time. We often have our foods program make us a delicious meal which we share with the school. Nothing is better than sitting around a table with students eating and telling stories. So much is learned during this time.  A big thanks for the students have made these meals for all of us to share. I also want to say a big thanks to the students for be so welcoming to me and for opening the the door , although maybe just a bit into their lives, dreams and of course challenges.

Below is a picture of our students helping at the local SOS (Society of Organized Services) Thanksgiving Lunch. So rewarding to have our students helping with the seniors to help provide them with a nice meal. Great to see cross generations working beside and for each other to make a stronger more worthwhile community. I am very proud of our students for making this happen along with our teacher Martin Jedlik and many other supporting casts.

Hope the school year as started as positive for students as it has been for me.
Thanks PASS/Woodwinds for making me feel welcome and at home. I am looking forward to a super year for of many more positive interactions
